Eudora
The design is inspired by the waves of the Aegean Sea were our founder loves to spend a lot of her spare time. Eudora was a sea-nymphe of "fine gifts" of the sea.
In Greek mythology Eudora was the daughter of Nereus and Dorris. She was one of the 50 daughters called the Nereides also known as nymphs who are female spirits of sea waters.
It was said that the Nereides were goddesses of the sea's rich bounty and protectors of sailors and fishermen, coming to the aid of those in distress. Nereides are associated with the Aegean Sea where they dwel in the depths in a golden palace.
The Ornament
The exquisite ornament (the meandros symbol) is one of the most important symbols and probably also the most famous in ancient Greece. It symbolizes infinity and unity and is visible in many ancient Greek temples.
The symbol is a decorative border constructed from a continuous line, shaped into a repeated motif. Today the design is known as the Greek fret or Greek key design and is something that represents the Greek ancient culture.
All Maggio shoes have beautiful ornaments, this one you can take off and use in your key chain.
